Frankfurt has everything for the hungry traveller. The city caters
for all tastes and also ranging from cheap to very expensive. Although
the food and drink is top class in general, this great city is full
of single people, and socialising is top of the list when it comes
to most localities.
The cuisine has definitely benefited from the airport, which is
the link for all the food producers of the world. Also with all
the different nationalities based in the city, a touch of spice
has been added to the entire culinary landscape and foreign restaurants
like Indian, Japanese, Turkish, Chinese and Italian have all set
up shop and have given the visitor the worlds’ cuisine at
his feet. But don’t forget that you are in Germany and the
local dishes are well catered for by the local restaurants and they
also serve up other German regional specialities at great prices.
The visitors adore spending their evenings in one of the many
traditional cider pubs that Frankfurt is famous for. These are
known as Ebbelwohnkneipen and the serve up ceramic mugs full of
cider (apfelwein). They have dry or sweet cider to whichever your
liking, and it really is the drink of choice in Frankfurt and is
also drunk with a delicacy of hard cheese mixed with onions, vinegar
and oil.
