The Main Station area (Hauptbahnhof) was where up to 22,000 people
lived back in the 1920’s in their ornate houses next to the
main station, Today the Bahnhofs viertel (station quarter) is home
to just over 4000 residents. This area almost turned into a red
light district back in the 1970s but now it has lots of sex shops,
and gambling joints, lap dancing and strip bars dominating the landscape.
Yet this area is still very popular because of the English Theatre
and the chamber choir, and also loads of bars and restaurants that
people still socialise in after a day at the office in the nearby
banking Quarter.
Bockenheim is home to the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University and
almost 42,000 students are studying here making this area the liveliest
and cool spot. The café’s and bars, shops and bistros
have focused their attention on the young students for sustaining
their business. Also there is the Theater am Turm which is Frankfurt’s
best when it comes to theatre and Ballet productions
